USW Local 675 Receives the Karen Silkwood Award

9906854756_a7dd3d97f4_bUSW Local 675 along with the CLEAN Carwash Campaign were presented with the Karen Silkwood Award. The award is given to local unions for union building and solidarity through health, safety and environment. It is named for our union sister who died under mysterious circumstances while she was on her way to deliver papers exposing serious safety problems at a nuclear fuels plant. We are honored to have received this award. We received this award for the video below which shows the effects of the yellow soap which is a product used in car washes and is linked to blurred vision, chemical burns, dizziness and unknown long-term health effects, violating worker safety and health.
