Summer of Solidarity Day Three

Day 3 of the Summer of Solidarity Tour we arrived in Detroit. We were greeted by activists from Detroit Eviction Defense, UAW Local 600, USW District 2 and other union and community groups to put the Bank of America on Trial.

We met at the labor monument in Hart Plaza and marched to the Guardian Building where the Bank of America’s Detroit office is located.  Organizers from Detroit then held a Peoples’ Court to put Bank of America on trial for its part in the financial crisis and the foreclosure and displacement of millions of families and the start of the financial crisis.

After the trial we then marched to the Federal Building to deliver the verdict against Bank of America and raise the peoples’ objections to the city’s bankruptcy.

Later that evening we held a Music and Poetry slam at Swords Into Ploughshares Gallery at the First United Methodist Church.  Michael O’Brien and Anne Feeney were joined by local artists for a a great night.
